“The First Siege of Newark: 1218” – a talk by Dr. David Crook

April 10 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Dr Crook, formerly of The National archives at Kew, gives a presentation on the First Siege of Newark in July 1218.  Following the death of King John at Newark Castle in 1216, this turbulent period of English history saw two local dramatic events: the Battle of Lincoln in 1217 and the siege of Newark in July 1218. At our talk, presented just  801 years after the main event, Dr Crook will talk about these important events
