Tom William Walker was born in 24 December 1888 in Stapleford, Lincolnshire and his birth was registered in Newark, Nottinghamshire.

 In the 1891 census he was living with his parents, George, an agricultural labourer, and Ellen Walker in Norton Cuckney, Nottinghamshire.

 In the 1901 census, he was living with his grandparents, William, a stockman on a farm, and Elizabeth Walker in Stapleford, Lincolnshire.

 In the 1911 census, he was married to Esther, aged 23 born in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. They were living in Kelham, Nottinghamshire where he was employed as an auxiliary postman. They had one son, Arthur, aged 3 months. 

 The marriage of Tom W Walker and Esther Emmonds was registered in Southwell in the March quarter of 1910.

 In December 1916 Tom Walker was based at Chisledon Camp in Wiltshire with 93rd Training Reserve Battalion, when he was not given permission to return home for his father’s funeral because he was under Orders for Overseas and likley to be posted abroad at any moment.

 
The British WW1 Medal Rolls Index show that he was a private in the 1st Battalion Gloucestershire Regiment, regimental no. 32267, and was awarded both the Victory and British War medals. 

 
Tom and Esther had at least one other child Grace E Walker whose birth was registered in Southwell district in the September quarter of 1920.

 
In the 1939 register, Tom and Esther (born 19 August 1887) are recorded at 10 Gainsborough Drive, Newark and his occupation is given as postman.

 
Esther died in 1967 and her death was registered in Newark.

 
Tom William Walker died in 1982 and his death was registered in Newark, Nottinghamshire.
 
HIs probate record states that he died on 15 February 1982 and had been living at 43 Valley Prospect, Newark on Trent.
